Three Weeks ‘Til We’re Frost Free

What? It’s almost May!?! My garden is already behind! I have to get my peas and onions planted, and start my tomato and pepper seeds!

I’m going to be managing 118 square feet of garden this year; a small patch next to my house and some space that Robs parents let me use on their property. With that and several containers I’ll be growing a lot of plants:

9 cherry tomatoes
6 full-size tomatoes
green onions
radishes
8 parsley
32 peas
4 corn
8 cucumbers
36 beets
32 carrots
pumpkins
16 lettuce
asparagus (though I won’t be able to harvest this year)
16 spinach
1 zucchini
63 edamame soybeans
4 basil
8 hot peppers
4 sweet peppers

…and then later in the summer I’ll probably start some kale and leeks and bok choi. Whew! Still, there is nothing as satisfying as eating food you’ve grown yourself.

This weekend is transplanting weekend! I hope that I have enough soil.
